How we research, write, score, update, and correct everything we publish, and why you can trust it.

🧭ExperienceWe tell you exactly how we evaluate products and never imply testing we didn’t do. (Sections 5, 6)
🎓ExpertiseNamed editors own each topic and every article is human-reviewed. (Sections 3, 4)
🏛️AuthoritativenessWe cite primary sources and verify U.S. specs and warranties. (Sections 5, 7)
🔒TrustIndependence, disclosure, updates, and corrections are all public. (Sections 2, 8 to 11)

1. Editorial Mission

Our mission is to empower individuals and businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions about waste disposal and recycling. For garbage disposals, that means accurate, plain-English reviews, buying guides, and how-tos that help U.S. homeowners choose, use, and maintain their units safely. Readers come first. Revenue never comes before accuracy.

2. Editorial Independence

We earn money from affiliate commissions and display ads, but money does not decide what we write or recommend.

✅ What We Do🚫 What We Don’t Do
Rank products on our published scoring criteriaAccept payment to rank, review, or recommend a product
Disclose affiliate links and how we earn moneyLet commission rates influence our picks
Name the editor responsible for each articlePublish anonymous or unreviewed content
Mention drawbacks, not just positivesHide negatives to protect a sale
Keep advertising separate from editorial decisionsLet advertisers see or change content before publication
Say clearly when we have or have not used a productFabricate reviews, quotes, ratings, or statistics

4. Our 6-Step Content Process

Topic selectionWe choose topics based on real reader questions, not just search volume or commissions.
ResearchWe gather manufacturer specs, manuals, warranties, and owner feedback.
DraftingThe topic editor writes the article in clear language with a named byline.
Fact-checkSpecs, claims, safety notes, and numbers are verified against sources.
Editorial reviewA second review checks accuracy, tone, disclosures, and links.
Publish & monitorWe publish with a visible date, then watch for feedback and changes.

5. Research Standards

Primary sources first

We prefer manufacturer documentation (spec sheets, installation manuals, warranty terms), government and standards bodies, and plumbing or electrical code references over secondary blogs. Where we cite statistics, we link to or name the source. If we cannot verify a number, we don’t publish it.

U.S. market verification

Our guides are written for U.S. homeowners. We confirm that products are sold in the U.S., that voltage and plug type fit U.S. homes, and that warranty terms apply to U.S. buyers before we recommend anything.

Human-written, human-accountable content: no AI-only content

  • We do not publish content produced by AI alone.
  • Any AI tool is limited to assistance such as outlining, grammar, and organizing research. A named human editor writes, fact-checks, and takes responsibility for every article.
  • We never publish AI-generated statistics, quotes, citations, or product claims without checking them against a real source.
  • We never invent experiences, test results, or reviews.

6. Product Review Methodology

Our reviews are research-based evaluations. We compare each product’s specifications, features, warranty, installation requirements, and owner feedback against the same criteria used for every other product in its category.

Our honesty rule: unless an article explicitly says we personally tested a product, our assessments are based on research and published information, not hands-on testing.

7. Scoring Criteria

Each product is scored out of 100 using these six weighted criteria.

Grinding Performance & Power25%
Horsepower, grind stages, jam resistance.
Durability & Warranty20%
Build materials, expected lifespan, warranty length and terms.
Noise Level15%
Sound insulation and owner feedback on noise.
Installation & Compatibility15%
Mounting system, sink fit, plumbing and electrical requirements.
Value for Money15%
Price compared with features, performance, and lifespan.
Features & Design10%
Septic safety, size, extras, and ease of use.

8. Affiliate & Advertising Policy

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. We may earn a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you.

  • Commission separation: editors choose and score products first, using the criteria above. Links are added afterward and never change a ranking.
  • Ads: we display third-party ads, including Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say over our content, and ads are never written or edited by our editors.
  • Disclosure: every article with affiliate links carries a disclosure near the top.

Full details: Affiliate Disclosure and Privacy Policy.

9. Content Update Policy

  • We review our most-read buying guides at least every 6 months and others at least yearly.
  • We re-check specs, availability, warranties, and links during each review.
  • Articles show their last updated date. When a change affects a recommendation, we update the text and say so.
  • Outdated or discontinued products are replaced or removed.

10. Corrections Policy

We make mistakes sometimes. When we do, we fix them openly.

ReportTell us the page URL and what’s wrong via our contact page or email.
VerifyAn editor checks the claim against primary sources.
CorrectWe fix the article and, for significant errors, add a correction note.
Follow upWe let the reporter know the outcome.
  • We do not sell reviews, rankings, or positive coverage.
  • If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled “Sponsored” at the top, kept separate from our editorial reviews, and written to the same factual standards.
  • Free products or samples, if received, are disclosed and do not affect scores.
  • Sponsors never get to approve, edit, or preview our editorial conclusions.
